Turisticko-ugostiteljska i prehrambena škola Bjelovar

In the very heart of the Bjelovar-bilogora county, the town of Bjelovar, there is our tourism and catering school.
Bjelovar has six vocational secondary schools. Our school has about 580 students and more than 50 teachers.
Students can choose from a large variety of three and four year programs for students (both regular and those with special needs):
The Hotel Management and Tourism Program leads to careers in hotels, conference centres, travel agencies and marketing.
The catering and food program prepares students for cooks, bakers, pastry chefs, assistant chefs (students with special needs).
There is also a program for florists (students with special needs).
In 2009 the school relocated into a new, modern building with excellent conditions such as: two food labs where students learn to cook, two catering labs where they master the art of serving guests, one specialized classroom for Hotel Management students where they have access to a system simulating the operation of a full-service hotel, an IT classroom, two gyms, library, etc.
Up to now our school has participated in two IPA projects (Instruments for Pre-Accession Assistance): Ears wide open and a Training company as a journey to real life experience.
From 2007 the school has become a member of the AEHT (European Association of Hotel and Tourism Schools) which has given us the possibility to take part in all their activities, competitions and fairs. We have taken part in several of them: Christmas in Europe, Annual Conference, Competition for Receptionists and City Tourism.
Within our region and country our students successfully take part and compete in numerous sport competitions (athletics, basketball, handball, table tennis, football, etc.), language competitions (Croatian, English, French), theatre performance, culinary art, restaurant service, bar skills, presentation of tourist destination, front office management, and so on.
