Croatian Students and Volunteering
In association with the Association of the disabled, few of Croatian students did volunteer work with disabled children. Paula, Hrvoje, Mateo and Kristijan did their best to help them as much as possible.
We wanted to help people with disabilities, so we decided to go to the disabled centre in Bjelovar to see how we can be of help.
We found out that we can help children with disabilities, athletes or the elderly, but at the end we decided to help the kids.
Everything started with meeting the president of the association of people withy body disabilities where we signed the contract.
At the end of December we started volunteering.
Kids with all kinds of disabilities came there: paralysed, with light mental retardation, deaf, blind.
We usually stayed there for 2 hours. We talked to them, helped them with didactic toys, worked, played board games, listened to music, laughed and made them happy.
We worked with them for 4 months.

''I volunteered from December 2014 to April 2015. I worked with children who had physical difficulties, some of them were in wheelchairs. It was nice to be involved in such a job and those kids made me happy. I liked working with them. We played, listened to music and enjoyed the time spent together. I learned a lot from them, and I hope that they also learned something from me.''
